8. Preparation for Operation

To install (replace) the battery:

take the apparatus out of its case;
press the button to open the battery compartment and remove the cover;
take out the battery if intending to replace it;
install the new battery, paying attention to the polarity;
replace the battery compartment cover.

To check that the apparatus is functioning:
Attention! If the test has disclosed a fault, further operation of the apparatus is forbidden.
Attention! During the test, output impulses may be present on the electrodes. Take care!
Attention! If, during operation, it is necessary to press several buttons, the time between successive pressings should not exceed 1.5 sec. If this time is exceeded, the apparatus will automatically return to the main operation mode and indication (control and treatment level indication) and it will be necessary to repeat the procedure from the beginning. If it is required to change several modes, an interval of not less than 1.5 sec. should be observed between successive mode changes, i.e. changes should be implemented via the main operation mode and indication.

Switch on the apparatus by simultaneously pressing the "ON-OFF" and "MAX" buttons for 0.5-1 sec. A melody plus a slow flashing of the intensity indicator show that the apparatus is on and the intensity level is zero, i.e. at its minimum level;
By pressing the "MAX" and "MIN" buttons, which will be accompanied by a periodic beeping, check regulation of the treatment intensity. The flash frequency of the intensity indicator increases as the intensity is increased. During this check, keep the electrodes pressed to the skin to ensure that impulses are arriving at the electrodes;
Press the "ON-OFF" and "MIN" buttons simultaneously for 0.5-1 sec. After the melody has sounded, the apparatus will switch itself off (none of the indicators will be lit).

If the apparatus does not behave itself as described above, carry out an additional check in the test mode.

Checking the apparatus in the test mode:

Switch on the apparatus by pressing the "ON-OFF," "SELECT" and "SWITCH" buttons simultaneously for 0.5-1 sec. When the buttons are pressed, all the indicators should light up one after the other, (a check of the buttons, battery condition and some parameters has been carried out) after which a melody should sound, indicating that the startup process and button test has been completed normally. If the apparatus does not start normally, the battery should be changed and the startup procedure repeated. If a periodic beeping is emitted when the apparatus is switched on, this means that one or more buttons are pressed or malfunctioning. Malfunctioning buttons are shown as follows:

"SELECT" -indicator "L" group "F"
"MAX" -indicator "H" group "F"
"MIN" -indicator "C" group "R"
"SWITCH" -indicator "V" group "R"

The apparatus cannot be operated with malfunctioning buttons.

Next the apparatus moves into the variable output impulse frequency. The following parameters are set automatically.
treatment intensity - maximum;
mean output impulse frequency - low (60 Hz);
maximum output impulse frequency deviation from mean value - ±20%;
output impulse frequency change period - 0.5 min.

This test will be indicated by a quick flashing of the intensity indicator (showing that the treatment intensity is at maximum).

Next, after one minute, the apparatus automatically moves into the interval therapy mode at a fixed frequency with the following parameters:
treatment intensity - maximum;
mean output impulse frequency - high (140 Hz).

This test is interrupted every minute for an automatic check of the apparatus, after which a melody should sound, indicating that the check has been completed normally. If the check has revealed a fault the apparatus will emit an intermittent sound and the corresponding indicators will light up:
Indicator "C" group "A" - battery is discharged;
Other indicators - other faults.
After testing the apparatus, don't forget to switch it off by pressing the "ON-OFF" and "MIN" buttons simultaneously.
