What is Andrographis?

Andrographis Peniculata is an Asian medicinal herb with a long history of use in both TCM (traditional chinese medicine) and ayurvedic (Indian) medical traditions. Read the first few paragraphs of our introduction page on Andrographis -- or our in-depth review.

What is the best dosage to take of your Andrographis capsules? And how long does it last?

Generally, two capsules per day. Since we now carry just the Andrographis Plus formula, there are 90 capsules to a bottle -- so each bottle is about a 90 day supply.

Do I really need Andrographis if I'm already taking Cansema?

That depends.
An herb like andrographis has a variety of benefits and unique properties that lend its use to unique formula blends. If you want to take it because of its anti-cancer properties (which is one of the applications in formularies in the Far East), you would be better to take Cansema Tonic III along with one of the CanSupport products. In these formulations andrographis is used in concert with similar acting herbal extracts. But if you're using Andrographis in another application, such as respiratory system support (a common usage in the Far East), it would be better to purchase it as a single item. Again, it depends on your use. In the in-depth review page for Andrographis, we discuss a number of research projects that will give you ideas on the product can be best used to suit your particular need.

Are there any contraindications? Is it toxic?

No. In fact, besides a lack of contraindications with other medications, it should be noted that andrographis has a remarkably low toxicity -- something we cannot say about all the herbs with which we work.

What studies have been done on the effectiveness of Andrographis?
Quite a number, as it turns out.
We discuss this issue exhaustively, as well as provide supportive footnotes, through our in-depth review page on Andrographis.
